I ended up tagging along in the 5km run at the Canberra Times Fun Run rather than the 10km that I had originally signed up for.  My decision was based on the fact that if I couldn't run the whole way due to my ITB then I would only have to walk a short distance.  Good decision because at the 3km mark I could start to feel the pinch.  But I toned in down a notch and completed the 5km without walking.

3 x 1.5km technique runs under my belt since getting the ok from my physio. All set for my 5km this weekend and I'm struck down with a cold! Clearly I'm not ready for running yet!

Been off running for 10 days and it's killing me.  My spirit and motivation is slowly declining. I'm not able to 'run' for another week, but I am able to do some short technique exercises, which will hopefully lift my mood.
Still eating like I'm running and have put on 1.5kg.  This also isn't helping with my mood.  Not that I need to worry about my weight, but no girl ever likes to put on weight.
I just want to get out there and run but I've gotta hold myself back and get back to 100% before pushing it beyond repair.
Just bought some running gear from wiggle.co.uk Should be here just in time for the Canberra Times 10km fun run, which by the way I'm not allowed to run for a time but I'm allowed to participate... physio's orders!

After 3 months of training, the City2Surf finally arrived.  I was pumped this morning ready to run like I've never run before. But that wasn't in the cards for me this race.  My injury from last Sunday seemed to have disappeared but as I took my first steps down William Street over the starting line, the excruciating pain hit hard and didn't let down for the entire run.  Next to fail me was my iPod. I had spent ages last night arranging the songs and charging it all night but for whatever reason, it didn't charge fully, so I decided to save the battery for heartbreak hill.  It lasted 2 songs and died completely.  The first 10km of City2Surf is predominantly uphill so you could imagine how stoked I was to hit the other side, but what next, oh my bib had come undone on the left side, the side that the wind was blowing on. So from 11km I was hanging on to my bib with one hand.  As I got into Bondi I knew I wasn't going to make my first goal time of 1:30.  The disappointment of not making my goal time with all the issues along the way had me emotionally spent but I knew if I dug deep I could make my back up goal time of 1:35.  I was nearly in tears on the home stretch and I remember seeing the finish line about 300m ahead.  I repeated my mantra "Dream, Believe, Aspire" all the way to the finish line.  I had made it. All the way. Despite all the issues, I had completed the City2Surf.

Only one week to go until the City2Surf and it looks like I'm on track to finish sub1:30.  The last three months has been all about commitment.  There's been only a couple of days where I really lacked the motivation but I put my runners on, stepped out and completed my session as per the program.  Sharing my progress with my partner, family, friends and colleagues has inspired me as I can feel that my happiness and passion inspires them too.  I will be tapering this week and I know that come Sunday I will be busting to get out and smash it!  My right knee is causing me a little grief but hey, 'no pain, no gain!

today, 5 August 2012 - (long run) 13.7km in 1:26.38

Whenever I am aiming for a PB I always set two goal times.  The big goal is there to really push me, but then I have a back up goal so that if I don't make the big goal, I'm still happy with my results.  This keeps me motivated and keeps my spirits high.
